CENTER FOR CAPACITY BUILDING

Through our direct service program, Open Heart - Open Mind (OHOM), we currently serve over 12,000 young people whose life circumstances place them at high risk for academic failure. To reach a greater number of students, we introduced the Center for Capacity Building (CCB) to provide professional development, as well as a replication model of the OHOM program for urban school success. Our programs have helped schools achieve noticeable gains in test scores and attendance, as well as improved student-teacher interactions.
The CCB's full-time staff members are all MSWs with an average of 10 years of experience as practicing social workers. Each full-time CCB staff member has worked for Partnership with Children as a social worker implementing our program in New York City public schools. Drawing from their experience, our full-time staff members are able to provide first-hand knowledge of our best practices and offer perspectives that speak to the unique needs of different school communities.
We offer a wide range of trainings and workshops derived from 16 years of best practices. Designed for administrators, teachers, guidance counselors, paraprofessionals and student support staff, each service can be adapted to fit the specific needs of any school or agency. We provide training and techniques in student behavior challenges, diversity, child and adolescent trauma, bullying issues, anger management, classroom management, gang prevention, and more.
